Man arrested after allegedly groping woman on downtown Seattle street

SEATTLE -- A 32-year-old man was arrested after allegedly running up to a young woman and groping her as she left work.

Around 8 p.m. Wednesday, an officer was walking near the intersection of 6th Avenue and Pine Street in Seattle when a 19-year-old woman came running toward him, Seattle police said.

The woman told the officer she was locking the front door of a business on 6th Avenue when a man came up behind her unexpectedly and groped her with violent force, police said. The woman yelled at the man and chased after him, she told police, but stopped when she saw the officer on the street.

The officer spotted the suspect and took him into custody.

The 32-year-old was booked into King County Jail for suspicion of assault.
