Pierce County residents voice their opinions on proposal to restrict fireworks

TACOMA -- Pierce County residents had a chance to voice their opinion Monday on a proposal to restrict fireworks in the county.

Pierce County currently follows state law for the sale and possession of fireworks between June 28 and July 5. But the Pierce County Council is now looking into limiting sales and purchases to July 1 through the Fourth, and allowing people to use fireworks only on July Fourth from 10 a.m. until midnight.

Owners of fireworks stands say cutting the amount of days for sales will dramatically affect their business.
