Overnight greenhouse fire damages Seattle’s Swansons Nursery

SEATTLE -- Firefighters believe an electrical issue may have caused a small fire at Swansons Nursery early Monday morning.

Firefighters say the flames damaged a portion of a greenhouse at the nursery located on the 9700 block of 15th Avenue NW.

“Fire broke through the glass of the greenhouse,” said Deputy Chief Tom Walsh. “It was extinguished pretty quickly. I would say about 15 minutes.”

The fire started in a small room inside of the greenhouse. Firefighters say they kept the flames from spreading to other parts of the property.

The popular nursery has been open since 1924. Deputy Chief Walsh says they were unable to reach the owners early Monday morning.
