Family IDs Oregon boy killed by fallen tree

FALL CREEK, Ore. (AP) _ An Oregon family has identified the 9-year-old boy who was killed when a rotted tree fell on him and his cousin.

The Register-Guard reports (http://bit.ly/2bJuGlf ) that the family says Brayden Zeisler of Springfield was killed Friday night while his family was camping near Fall Creek.

Lowell Rural Fire Protection District Chief Keith Hoehn said late Friday that the families were in the Willamette National Forest when the 20-inch-diameter tree fell over. Signs posted on the road in the area warn of falling tree limbs and trees.

Police say the 8-year-old cousin was taken to a Portland hospital.

The Lane County Sheriff's Office says witnesses had to drive about 10 minutes to call for help because cell phone reception in the area was weak.
