Toxic algae can look like green paint floating on the water from a distance, and tiny dots close-up. If you see it on any lake or river, you should keep children and pets out of the water, and make sure that you don't accidentally get it in your mouth or on your skin. It can make you very sick, and can even kill pets if you let them drink it.
