Teen critically injured in fall from construction site ladder

SILVERDALE -- A North Kitsap teen is in the hospital with critical injuries following a high fall from a construction site ladder.

Around 1:50 a.m. Saturday, a 16-year-old girl was brought into the Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton with critical injuries sustained from a fall at a significant height, the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office says.

The teen was airlifted to Tacoma General Hospital, where she remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

According to the sheriff's office, the fall occurred at the Silverdale Elementary School at 9100 Dickey Road. The school has been undergoing a total remodel since July 2015, and is under control of a general contractor.

The sheriff's office is trying to determine why the victim was on the property, how she entered the construction site and how the fall happened.

Anyone with information about the fall is encouraged to contact sheriff's detectives at 360-337-7111.
