Skydiver's mom says jump that turned out to be fatal was on his bucket list

The mother of one of two skydivers killed in California when their parachute failed to open says the jump was on the 18-year-old's bucket list of things to do in life.

Francine Salazar says her son Tyler Turner was born with a mild case of cerebral palsy and walked with a crouched gait, but he never let his condition deter him. She said Monday he was an adventurous spirit who was always willing to give something a try.

The recent high school graduate was headed for the University of California at Merced this month to study biomedical engineering. He hoped to find a cure for cerebral palsy.

An instructor strapped to Turner also died Saturday after they plunged into a vineyard in Lodi, 85 miles east of San Francisco. San Joaquin County sheriff's officials haven't identified the instructor.
