Community comes together to honor victims of Mukilteo shooting

SNOHOMISH, Wash. --All week long, the community in and near Mukilteo has come together for the victims of Saturday morning's shooting in the Chennault Beach neighborhood. The shooting killed three teens and injured one, while teens attended a house gathering.

Bringing out the beauty in people is what hair stylist Beth Nier does best, but doing her job in the midst of an ugly tragedy in Mukilteo hasn’t been easy.

"I just saw her last week, so it still doesn't seem real," said Nier, referencing her friend and client Stacy Snitzler, whose son Jordan Ebner is one of three killed in Saturday's shooting.

"I didn't know what else to do," said Nier of Fresh Salon and Spa in Snohomish.

Powering through the tears, Nier is back at work on what’s normally her day off so she can raise money for her friend and their family.

"I'm hoping to ease a little bit of worry if I can by helping out,"said Nier.

Thursday’s proceeds will go right to Jordan’s family. It’s the kind of support we’ve seen all week long in Mukilteo, whether passing out ribbons or raising thousands of dollars on crowdfunding sites or getting a haircut for three young lives lost.

"It says that we have so many people that care and so many people that want to reach out and want to help," said Gabriala Gonzalez.

By the end of her fundraising even Thursday, Nier raised $700. Her salon will continue to take donations through Saturday. Three online fundraisers for each victim's memorial has exceeded its goal of $15,000.
