Man drowns after falling off inner tube in Stillaguamish near Granite Falls

GRANITE FALLS, Wash. – A man drowned in the Stillaguamish River on Thursday afternoon after he fell off his inner tube, a Granite Falls fire department spokesman said.

The man was trapped on the bottom of the river after he got stuck in the current shortly after 1 p.m.

People in the area were able to pull him out and perform CPR, and paramedics spent another half-hour trying to revive the man after they arrived.

The accident happened in the south fork of the river, near the 14300 block of Stehr Road.

Authorities have yet to release any further information about the victim.
