SEATTLE (AP) — Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that broke out at the old Seattle Times building, which has been boarded up to keep away transients.

Our news partner The Seattle Times reports officials say crews quickly extinguished the Wednesday night blaze and no injuries were reported.

Bryan Hastings with the Seattle Fire Department says the fire was on the building's second floor. He says authorities made contact with at least one person who had been living inside the structure and that there may have been more who left before crews arrived.

Seattle officials announced plans earlier this year to speed up demolition of the old newspaper building, but progress has stalled.

Wednesday's fire comes after two blazes at the property during the winter when police arrested several people living inside.
