PORT ORCHARD, Wash. (AP) _ A Port Orchard man has been charged for an assault on his wife in which he allegedly doused her face with hot sauce after an argument at their apartment.

The Kitsap Sun reports (http://bit.ly/29Cmeam ) that the 49-year-old man was charged with assault Tuesday in Kitsap County District Court.

Court documents say the woman had been arguing with her husband Monday night after he accused her of infidelity.

The woman reported that she fell asleep and awoke to him pouring hot sauce on her eyes and face. She says he then pinned her down, pulled her hair and banged her head against the floor.

The man told the deputy he had been drinking alcohol before the incident.
