Seahawks' Michael Bennett rips Steph Curry for charging $2,250 for basketball camp

OAHU, Hawaii – Add Steph Curry to the list of people who’ve gotten a piece of Michael Bennett’s mind.

The Seattle Seahawks defensive end ripped the NBA’s reigning MVP this week for charging kids $2,250 to attend his basketball camp in Oahu last weekend.

Bennett, who has lived in Hawaii for four years, is offering his own football camp this weekend for free.

“I’ve been here and I see a lot of athletes come through Hawaii, whether Steph Curry or whoever it is,” Bennett told KHON. “They all come here and it make me mad because I live in this community and I understand this community, that there’s so many kids that can’t afford to pay such a high amount of money.

“And in my mind it’s like, how much money do you need before you start giving back for free?”

Bennett said he grew up unable to do things like go to camps because his family couldn’t afford it. When he made it to the NFL, he decided to give back.

“When you leave Hawaii and you go back to wherever you at, or you come here and you go back from your vacation, yeah you leave with a piece of paradise, but these people live here every day,” he said.
