SILVERDALE – Crews were able to knock down a bush fire in Silverdale on Thursday before it did any real damage.

The fire happened on Highway 303, and threatened five houses on Mahogany Lane. Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue said it burned an area about 100 feet by 300 feet.

The Washington State Patrol said traffic lanes were reduced during the mop-up.

Investigators are working to figure out what caused the fire.
