21-year-old day care worker in Renton charged with child molestation

SEATTLE -- A 21-year-old day care worker in Renton was charged Tuesday with child molestation and communication with a minor for immoral purposes for alleged acts that took place at the preschool center.

Bail was set at $150,000 for Ivan Jovahnni Anaya, of Auburn, a teacher's aide at The Orchards ChildCare  and Preschool at 850 Union Ave. NE in Renton.

He was arrested last Wednesday after a 4-year-old girl told authorities he had put his tongue in her mouth and also put his hand in her underwear.

According to the police, the investigation began on June 10 when the director of The Orchards received a call from a parent reporting allegations that Anaya alllegedly had stuck his tongue in the mouth of the girl at the center.

Anaya was placed on administrative leave at that time, pending an investigation.

On June 13, police said, a parent called the center and said he had learned that there had been some type of sexual abuse involving Anaya and the 4-year-old girl. A few days later, the child told investigators that the employee had put his hand in her underwear and molested her.

Anaya has no criminal record, police said earlier.
