Obama to campaign with Clinton for first time Tuesday, tell foe-to-friend story

WASHINGTON (AP) — They've been bitter rivals, allies and colleagues.

Now President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton will show off a new phase in their relationship: co-dependents. The two plan to campaign together for the first time on Tuesday in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Clinton's chances of winning the White House hinge on rallying Obama's coalition to her cause. Obama's legacy depends on her success. They now plan to spend four months selling each other to the public.

Obama plans to act as a character witness for his former secretary of state, who is struggling to convince voters of her trustworthiness and honesty. The White House says Obama will say he believes Clinton has the "character, the toughness, skills, and experience" to be president.
