Search continues for man believed to have drowned in Mayfield Lake

MOSSYROCK, Wash. — Lewis County authorities are searching for a 43-year-old Rochester man believed to have drowned in Mayfield Lake.

The Lewis County Sheriff's Office said late Friday that the man had been swimming in the lake with his 17-year-old son that evening when they both got tired. The man called to his wife who was on shore for help. She swam out to him but couldn't keep him afloat. He went under water and had not been recovered as late Friday.

Divers and others planned to search Saturday morning for him.

The man and his family had been camping at Ike Kinswa State Park since Tuesday.
