Seattle official agrees to $10K settlement in ethics probe

SEATTLE (AP) _ Seattle's transportation director has agreed to a $10,000 settlement for violations connected to his involvement with the city's bike-share system.

The Seattle Times reports (http://bit.ly/29wfh67 ) that Department of Transportation Director Scott Kubly admitted to two violations in the June 21 settlement. Mayor Ed Murray expressed support for Kubly Thursday, saying the violations resulted from an error and were not intentional.

The Seattle Ethics and Elections Commission began investigating Kubly in March.

Kubly had served as president of a company hired in 2014 to run the Pronto bike-share program before becoming Seattle's transportation chief in July 2014.

The investigation found he had failed to recuse himself or obtain a waiver to work on matters related to Pronto as directed.

The settlement must still be approved by the ethics commission.
