Police search for Satanic graffiti vandals at Seattle University

SEATTLE -- Seattle Police are trying to identify three suspects who spray painted Satanic symbols and words on a Catholic Chapel at Seattle University Tuesday morning.

Detectives say they were seen on surveillance camera entering the campus about 1:27 a.m. before painting a Leviathan Cross, or Satan Cross as it’s known, on one wall and the words ‘Satan is here’ and an upside down cross on another.

"This is about as close as I could refer to as a hate crime as I could possibly say,” said Ret. Det. Myrle Carner with Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound, which is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who can identify the suspects.  "These aren't normal graffiti  signs. They're very specific in what was said so that tells me it's a targeted crime against the Catholic faith and the university itself."

Police say all three suspects are 17 to 23 years old. The first is slim with a light complexion and wearing a baggy hoodie with a Vans logo on it. The second has a medium complexion, is slim, wearing a backpack, a baggy hoodie, denim pants and white sneakers. The third has a dark complexion, medium build and was wearing a light-colored ski hat "with a poof ball on top", a dark T-shirt with a dark vest over it, baggy denim shorts cut off below the knee and is carrying a can of spray paint.

“You may have been the person responsible for this graffiti  and you go, wow, I didn't know it was going to result in this so you better come forward because somebody watching this video is going to know you and then we're gonna come after you,” said Carner.
