Court docs: 2-year-old girl thrown out window, beaten at Vancouver motel

VANCOUVER, Wash. -- A toddler is in critical condition after authorities say she was severely beaten by her father at a Vancouver motel.

The Clark County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that the 2-year-old was injured by at the Sunnyside Motel around 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Arriving deputies say they found 32-year-old Kyle Stephen Holder kicking the child. The Columbian reports (http://goo.gl/lpwdLl ) a probable cause affidavit says Holder threw her out the window, then walked outside and repeatedly threw her to the ground.

Authorities say a hotel resident tried to intervene using a baseball bat. Deputies used a Taser to subdue the suspect.

The girl was taken to a Portland hospital in critical condition. Holder was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. After treatment he was booked into jail on an attempted murder charge and had bail set at $1 million.

Police say Holder told them he didn't want to kill the girl, but he had to so she could "go up to the sky," documents said.

No charges were expected for the resident who used the baseball bat.
