Body discovered in Snohomish River

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. - Search and Rescue teams have recovered the body of a heavily decomposed adult from the Snohomish River.

Rachael Ford and her boyfriend called 911, after seeing the body entangled in some branches about 15 feet off shore. She says they couldn’t get close to the body, but it looked like the person may have been in the water for a while.

“It gave me an empty feeling, not knowing if that person has family or what. I know that it was me, I would want somebody to call it in and at least get some closure,” she says.

Sheriff’s deputies and dive teams were called to the spot, just off Shorts School Road. After a few hours, they were able to safely remove the body from the logjam.

The case has now been turned over to the medical examiner for further investigation.
