Former Seahawks quarterback Tavaris Jackson accused of pointing loaded gun at wife

SEATTLE – Former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Tarvaris Jackson was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill on Friday after allegedly pulling a gun on his wife during a family trip in Kissimmee, Fla.

According to a charging affidavit from the Osceola County sheriff’s office, Jackson was intoxicated when he pulled the loaded handgun from his bag, pointed it at his wife and said “I’ll kill you” early Friday morning.

Jackson was the Seahawks’ starting quarterback in 2011, and was their backup the past three seasons. No team signed him to a contract during the offseason.

Jackson’s wife told deputies that Jackson had come back to their vacation rental drunk after they’d spent much of the trip fighting. She told them he packed his bags and said he was leaving, and that she grabbed a knife and sat down because he’d become violent in the past while drinking.

She said Jackson came downstairs, so she put down the knife and started going upstairs and that that’s when he allegedly pulled a gun. She told deputies she went upstairs and grabbed a clothing iron for protection.

Deputies said when they arrived, Jackson told them there was no gun in the house, but that there was a 9mm sitting on the kitchen counter.

Deputies also said they found marijuana in the kitchen.

Jackson’s wife said the couple’s children were asleep in bed during the incident.
