Police on scene of officer-involved shooting

SEATTLE – Seattle police are on the scene of an officer-involved shooting that happened Sunday afternoon.

According to police, the officers responded to the 1900 block of S. Dearborn on reports of a suicidal man chasing someone with a kitchen knife in front of their home.

Officers say they were talking to the victim when the suspect returned with two kitchen knives and confronted them.

One officer fired shots at the suspect.

The Seattle fire department says they transported an adult male with life-threatening gunshot wounds to Harborview Medical Center.

The officer who fired the shots has been placed on paid administrative leave, per department policy.

At last word, the man was in critical condition at the hospital.

There were reportedly no officers injured during the incident.
