FEASTERVILLE, Pa. — A 51-year-old Pennsylvania man faces multiple charges after authorities found 12 girls inside his home in Bucks County Thursday.
Investigators found the children, ranging in age from 6 months to 18 years old, after a complaint was filed with Children Youth Services.
Kaplan began having sex with one of the girls four years ago, when she was 14, according to police. She is believed to have given birth to two of the other children — one now 6 months old, the other 3 years old.
One of the girls rescued from the house along Old Street Road in Feasterville, Pa., was apparently “gifted” to Kaplan by a couple going through financial hardship, WGAL reports. The parents, Daniel and Savilla Stoltzfus, who are believed to be Amish, admitted they gave away their daughter after Kaplan “researched the legality of it on the internet,” police said.
Savilla Stoltzfus told detectives she knew Kaplan was having sex with her daughter, but didn’t take her from the home, according to a criminal complaint. Officers took both parents into custody.
According to the Associated Press, Daniel Stoltzfus is charged with conspiracy of statutory sexual assault and children endangerment. Savilla Stoltzfus is charged with endangering the welfare of a child. They’re each being held on $1 million bail.
Kaplan faces charges of statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, corruption of a minor and unlawful endangerment, according to WPMT. Kaplan was jailed on $1 million bail.
A police investigation is ongoing.
