Gubernatorial debate between Inslee, Bryant set for August

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Washington Gov. Jay Inslee and his Republican challenger, Bill Bryant, will face off in their first debate in August.

The Association of Washington Business announced Tuesday that it will host the Aug. 17 debate in Spokane.

Inslee has already raised more than $6 million as he seeks re-election to a second term. Bryant, who has served on the Seattle Port Commission since 2008. He's raised more than $1.7 million.

An April poll by independent pollster Stuart Elway found 48 percent of voters surveyed preferred Inslee while 36 percent supported Bryant. Another 16 percent were undecided.

The general election is on Nov. 8.
