'Road rage' driver opens fire on another car in Auburn, hits passenger in arm, police say



AUBURN, Wash. -- A driver opened fire on another car during a road rage incident near Emerald Downs and struck a passenger in an arm, police said.

The driver of the suspect car then fled, police said.

The shooting occurred on 15th Street NW near Emerald Downs, just before the bridge over State Route 167.

Police said the wounded passenger's injury was not life threatening.

"At 2:53 p.m. today, two vehicles were west on 15th NW and became involved in what is described as a road rage incident," a police news release said.  "At approximately the 200 block of 15th NW, the male subject from what is now described as the suspect vehicle pulled a handgun out and fired multiple rounds into the victim vehicle. The suspect vehicle then fled west on 15th and then north on 167."

The gunman's car has been described as a tan or gold 4-door Toyota Corolla. The suspect is described as a Hispanic or black male, black baseball cap, and gray hoodie and was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
