Yola the baby gorilla makes public debut at Woodland Park Zoo starting Tuesday

SEATTLE -- Yola, the baby lowland gorilla, will make her public debut Tuesday at Woodland Park Zoo.

Yola is 6 months old. She's living in an outdoor pen with her mom -- 20-year-old Nadiri -- and two other gorillas.

Yola had a rough start -- her mother didn't bond with her right away. But zookeepers worked around it, by feeding Yola by bottle but in the same room as her mom. Nadiri is now acting normally toward Yola.

These gorillas are endangered in the seven African countries where they are found.

The public will be able to visit Yola and family, mom Nadiri, silverback Leo and playmate Akenji, at 1 p.m. daily. For more information, click here to go to the zoo's website.
