Memorial held for Coast Guard's explosives-detecting K-9 'Crema'

SEATTLE -- A somber farewell ceremony was held Thursday for a dedicated public servant.

A memorial was held for Crema, a yellow lab who conducted explosives-detecting work for the U.S. Coast Guard in Seattle.  Crema was part of the Super Bowl security team this year.

Crema underwent surgery to remove a growth on his spleen and had a bad reaction to the anesthesia.

After the ceremony Thursday, there was a procession to a fleet of boats. Other K-9 teams watched as Coast Guard crews spread the dog's ashes in the Puget Sound.
