Netflix gets exclusive rights to Disney movies starting in September

Great news for Disney fans who subscribe to Netflix!

Starting in September, Netflix will become the exclusive pay TV home of the latest films from Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm and Pixar.

Disney and Netflix initially struck a deal back in 2012. According to The Verge, all Disney films released theatrically in 2016 and beyond are included in the agreement, which Netflix is reportedly paying hundreds of millions of dollars for each year.

The partnership means Netflix can offer the movies during the same window that cable networks like HBO and Showtime would be allowed to air them.

Netflix posted the news Monday on their company blog. They are also working on other new and exclusive movies, citing increased demand from subscribers.
