'It’s just heartbreaking:' Students return to Bothell HS after teacher attacked

BOTHELL -- Students wore blue to show their support for a Bothell High School teacher attacked in the classroom last week. Wood shop teacher Calvin Pygott, 63, is out of the hospital and back home after someone hit him in the head with a blunt object and put a zip-tie around his neck, according to Bothell police.

Teachers and students were encouraged to wear blue to school for Mr. Pygott on Monday.

“I decided to wear blue because it is just nice to show support for that and it just shows how much a community Bothell is altogether and how much we are behind the teacher,” said senior Trey Kubalanza.

After cancelling classes Friday, students returned to school still stunned about what happened to their teacher.

“It’s just heartbreaking,” said senior Mitch Hunt.  “He’s been around for so long.”

As a safety precaution, there are extra police and security guards on campus. Detectives continue to review video captured by security cameras around the school.

Investigators have not made any arrests.
