Teenager found shot at White Center apartment complex

WHITE CENTER, Wash. -- A 17-year-old is recovering in a Seattle hospital after he was shot in the chest overnight in White Center.

Officers were called around 12:15 a.m. to the report of shots fired near Ambaum Blvd SW & SW 116th St, not far from Cascade Middle School.

At an apartment complex in the area, deputies say they found a teenage boy who had been shot in the chest. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Deputies say there was a group of people outside of an apartment complex that scattered following the shooting. Investigators say they found a shell casing near a convenience store in the area.

Police used a K9 to search for the suspects, but they were not found.

Only a vague description was given of two possible suspects -- both Hispanic men wearing dark clothing. Deputies say the suspects may have driven off in a silver or gray 2000s sedan.

No further details have been released.
