'Major film production' to slow traffic for several days on Alaskan Way Viaduct

SEATTLE -- A movie filming on Seattle's Alaskan Way Viaduct is expected to slow traffic through the downtown corridor for a few days.

The viaduct will not be closed for filming, but travelers can expect rolling slowdowns, mainly between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on the northbound lanes, May 19 - 26.

Seattle Public Schools say bus drivers will be arriving to work a little earlier to make sure they are picking up students on time.

State and local officials say the Hollywood filmmakers will also be taking over parts of Pioneer Square.

Rumors are swirling online about what the "major" film production could be, including that it may be 50 Shades Darker, the sequel to 50 Shades of Grey.

We've asked several times, but the city is staying tight-lipped about the production citing public safety reasons.
