Man arrested after leading police on chase in stolen ambulance

SEATTLE (AP) — Authorities say a 23-year-old man jumped out of a hotel room, stole an ambulance and led police on a brief chase before he was arrested.

Seattle police said Tuesday they and medics from the fire department were called to a downtown hotel Saturday night to respond to a man who had jumped out a window 10 feet off the ground.

Police say the man then stole the ambulance, fleeing to north Seattle.

Police say they spotted the vehicle with lights and sirens running and that the man hit the front of a patrol car at one point.

Officers pursued the ambulance while an officer used a loudspeaker to tell the man to pull over. Police say he stopped soon after and surrendered.

He was treated for injuries and booked into the King County Jail for auto theft.
