Puyallup police play down possible kidnapping of woman in van

PUYALLUP, Wash. -- The Puyallup Police Department said Friday night it was investigating a report by a single witness that they thought a woman in a van at a Burger King in Puyallup may have been kidnapped, but there is no proof of any criminal activity.

Earlier, a Washington State Patrol trooper put out a series of tweets asking for the public to help find the van involved in a possible kidnapping. He later deleted all of his tweets at the Puyallup Police Department's request.

A Puyallup police spokesman said one witness reported seeing a woman bound and gagged in the back of a van at the Burger King at 4022 Meridian, so police are investigating it as a suspicious circumstance. But the witness also saw no movements by the woman to try to get out of the van, police said. And no other witnesses reported seeing anything wrong.
