WMW Facebook tipsters help lead Shelton Police to prolific car prowl suspect caught trying to escape from home

Shelton Police say Leon Barnacascel was arrested on Saturday morning after a tipster who recognized him from the Facebook flyer reported seeing him in a vehicle.

Detectives say officers went to the home of the vehicle’s registered owners and caught Barnacascel trying to escape out the back of the home.

Detectives say he confessed to many of the break-ins and using a stolen debit card from one of the break-ins to try and steal money at a bank.

A prolific car prowler is driving neighbors crazy in shelton is on the loose.

Leon Barnacascel is the accused culprit.

Shelton detectives say he was caught on a home security camera breaking into a car — one of ten they say were hit last week.

A nearby business also caught him on camera where he was wearing a camouflage jacket and tan pants.

Detectives say Barnacascel is homeless.

He’s white, 19 years old, 5’6” and thin.
