Federal Way dedicates 5 officers to work the 3 murder cases this week; vigil held for one of the victims

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- Federal Way Police said Friday they are dedicating five officers, seven nights a week, to trying to solve the three murders that took place in a span of 48 hours this week.

The police chief has promoted five officers to the detective rank, specifically to work these cases. He said there are no suspect descriptions in the three separate murders and no connection between the three.

If you have any information that would be helpful to police, you are urged to submit anonymous trips to the city's website here.

Meanwhile, a vigil was held Friday night for one of the three people slain in Federal Way this week. Family and friends turned out to honor slain former Navy veteran Adam Gutierrez, a 30-year-old married family man who was gunned down while walking his dog Tuesday night in Federal Way.

Adam's father, Javier Gutierrez, said people in the area need to stay strong and help each other.
