Waste Management truck gets stuck under Alaskan Way Viaduct

SEATTLE -- A Waste Management truck got stuck Friday morning under the Alaskan Way Viaduct, which is closed while Bertha digs underneath.

Seattle police were called around 11:30 a.m. to Western Ave and Blanchard.

According to the Seattle Fire Department, the truck's natural gas tank was punctured causing a leak. Crews evacuated a nearby office as a precaution.

Waste Management was called in to remove the compressed natural gas tanks from the truck around 1:30 p.m.  Western Ave, Blanchard and Elliott were blocked off as crews worked to remove the stuck truck.

The tanks and truck were removed safely and the roadway was reopened just before 4 p.m., officials said.
