Voters saying no to marijuana production, sales in unincorporated Pierce County

TACOMA -- In initial election results, voters on Tuesday night were saying no to a non-binding advisory asking if marijuana production, processing and retail sales should be allowed in unincorporated areas of Pierce County.

The advisory was being rejected 53-47% -- or 29,620 votes to 26,668 votes.

Most of the measures under consideration in the region Tuesday concerned bond measures for school districts, or levy increases to fund fire departments or parks. Some of the school district bond measures require a 60% majority to pass.
