Police investigating after human remains found in Renton

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Police are investigating after a man found skeletal remains in a wooded area near his property in Renton.

The remains were found near  the intersection of Renton Avenue Extension and Hardie Ave SW.

Renton police said in a news release Tuesday that officers confirmed the remains were human and probably male. Police say the remains may have been in that area since sometime in 2015.

Police found no obvious signs of foul play.

Officials say the person may have had light hair and that he may have been older based on osteoarthritic deposits.

The remains have been turned over to the King County Medical Examiner's Office. They will work to identify the person and to determine cause and manner of death.

Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to call Renton police at 425-430-7500.
