Grocery chain offers free fruit to kids in stores

SEATTLE -- One grocery chain is trying to inspire healthy eating in today's youth by giving good snacks out to kids -- for free.

Fred Meyer stores have been giving out bakery cookies for years, but their new "Fruit for Kids" campaign is putting something a little healthier in children's hands. Each store now has a small display of clementines, apples and bananas for kids to snack on.

The Fruit for Kids program is available now in all Fred Meyer and QFC stores.
