Seattle police sergeant pleads not guilty to child rape, molestation charges

SEATTLE -- A veteran Seattle police sergeant pleaded not guilty Monday with multiple crimes related to the alleged repeated sexual assault of two female relatives who were underage when the alleged abuse began.

Daniel Amador was charged with first-degree child molestation; second- and third-degree domestic violence, rape of a child; first-degree incest; and third-degree child molestation. Prosecutors said more charges could be forthcoming.

According to charging documents released by King County prosecutors, the sergeant began abusing one of the victims when she was about 4 years old and continued until she was 20 and began abusing the other at about the age of 10.

The sergeant was arrested last month by the Kirkland Police Department and booked into King County Jail. He was later released on his own recognizance.
