Homicide detectives investigating possible body parts found in recycling bin

SEATTLE- Seattle police say three adult body parts — including a foot — have been found in a homeowner's recycling bin.

Just after 4 p.m. Saturday, officers received a call from a Central District homeowner reporting suspicious items in their recycling bin, near 21st Avenue and Pine Street.

Detectives believe the body parts had been packaged and placed in the bin sometime late Friday or on Saturday. The bin had been emptied of recyclables Friday.

Sgt. Mike Renner with Seattle Police described the parts as "fresh."

The King County Medical Examiner's Office has the body parts and is attempting to determine an identity.

Police say they searched other bins in the area but found nothing of note.
