Des Moines robbery suspect rams police car before arrest in Shoreline

CAPTURED:  Washington's Most Wanted fugitive Isaias Fernandez has been successfully apprehended. On 04/23/16, The Des Moines Police Department received a phone call from management at the Silverwood Park Apartments in Des Moines reporting a suspicious person sleeping in a vehicle.

After providing false information to the responding officer, Fernandez proceeded to ram the officer's driver's side door trapping him in the patrol car. The suspect fled the scene, but was later located at a motel in Shoreline.

A Des Moines PD Officer as well as a King County Deputy with the City of Shoreline responded to the motel. Upon answering the door the suspect fled on foot assaulting the officers in his attempt to flee. The deputy and the officer both grabbed onto the suspect and were drug along the road. K9 responded to the scene and was successfully applied. The responding officers only sustained minor injuries.

Upon search of the motel room, the NW Violent Offender Task Force located stolen firearms. "In a situation that could have ended very badly, we are happy to have a dangerous criminal off the streets," said Sgt. Doug Jenkins with Des Moines Police.

WANTED IN KING COUNTY —
King County Sheriff’s detectives, Des Moines Police and the U.S. Marshals Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force are asking for help finding Isaias Fernandez.

The 19-year-old is accused of two recent armed robberies.

“Right now, he’s hitting acquaintances. We’re concerned that he’s going to move on to strangers and he’s just a real danger to the entire community,” said Sgt. Doug Jenkins with Des Moines Police.

In the Des Moines PD case, detectives say Fernandez got into the car, pulled out a pistol and pointed it at the victims and told them to empty their pockets. A shot was fired during this robbery.

In the King County robbery, deputies say Fernandez and his accomplice drove around the teenage victim who he had gone to middle school with. The accomplice pulled out a gun and pistol whipped her several times. Fernandez and the accomplice drove away with the victim’s belongings and left her lying in the road. The accomplice is in custody.

Fernandez was last living in SeaTac.

He has a warrant for his arrest for two counts of Robbery 1st Degree.

He is 5’09″and 185 lbs.
