Landslide forces cancellation of passenger trains between Seattle, Everett

SEATTLE (AP) — BNSF Railway has imposed a 48-hour moratorium on passenger train service between Seattle and Everett because of a landslide south of Mukilteo.

Amtrak says it is providing alternative transportation for people traveling on the Amtrak Cascades and Empire Builder trains. Sound Transit will provide buses for people who usually take the Sounder train north of Seattle.

The tracks are expected to reopen on Wednesday.
