Bellingham man gets 23 years in prison for sexually motivated break-ins

BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) — A man accused of breaking into two Bellingham homes and committing sexual acts has been sentenced to 23 years in prison.

The Bellingham Herald reports that 32-year-old Matthew Luke Humphreys was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to burglary and indecent exposure as part of a plea deal.

Humphreys is accused of breaking into a stranger's apartment and touching himself inappropriately in front of the 62-year-old resident. He then went to a nearby home, where he allegedly fondled a teen.

The incidents occurred one day after Humphreys was released from a state prison in Monroe on Oct. 1.

Court records show Humphreys has a history of sex crimes dating back to 1999.

He told the judge at his sentencing on Thursday that he didn't have anything to say.
