SEATTLE – Amazon isn’t the only tech behemoth planning a major presence in South Lake Union.

According to a report from Q13 news partner The Seattle Times, Google plans to take over 607,000 square feet of office space on Mercer St. between Terry Ave. and Fairview Ave.

That would be double the size of Google’s Kirkland campus – which itself recently doubled after an expansion project.

The Times reports Google will occupy six stories in four buildings, and that two of the buildings will be topped with eight or nine stories of apartments.

Construction would begin next year and end in 2019.
