Oso victims still waiting for buyout two years after deadly landslide

OSO, Wash. -- Tuesday, March 22 marks two years since one of the deadliest natural disasters in state history. The Oso landslide killed 43 people and destroyed dozens of homes.

Twenty homeowners are still waiting for buyouts of their properties. The buyouts are part of a federal program that has given millions of dollars to Snohomish County to help those devastated by the landslide.

Since it is a federal program, there are very strict guidelines and rules. Every parcel must be treated equally whether there is a house standing or not.

At 9 a.m., a ceremony was held at a Snohomish County fire station to lower the American Flag to half staff in memory of the victims.
