Fans angry at refs as Sounders fall to Whitecaps, 2-1
SEATTLE - There was much anger in CenturyLink Field on Saturday night.
The Seattle Sounders remained pointless through three games of the MLS season, falling to the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 in a match that left many fans upset with referee Mark Geiger.
Both of Vancouver's goals came on free kicks by Pedro Morales that were precipitated by controversial Geiger calls: One in the 10th minute, and the other in the 74th minute.
The Sounders had more than their fair share of chances; 85 minute into the game, they'd out-shot Vancouver 18-7.
Seattle is 0-3 for the first time in its history, and is the only team left in the MLS without a win or draw.
The Sounders will end March without a win. They will get two weeks to prepare for a visit from the Montreal Impact on April 2.
