Report: Okung is leaving Seahawks, agreeing to a five-year contract with Broncos

DENVER – Goodbye, Russell Okung.

The Seattle Seahawks will reportedly have a new left tackle next season, after Okung told NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport that he’d agreed to a new contract with the Denver Broncos.

Okung, who is representing himself rather than retain an agent, will reportedly get a five-year contract worth $10.6 million a year.

Okung got very close to the reported $11 million to $13 million he'd been seeking. He'd already received offers from the Lions, Steelers and Giants, and was still reportedly considering the Seahawks.

The deal, however, is reportedly somewhat complicated and could leave Okung without a contract a year from now.

But news broke Thursday morning that he was traveling to Denver, and it wasn't long before he'd decided the Broncos' offer was to his liking.

Okung was drafted No. 6 overall b Seattle in the 2010 draft after an All-American career at Oklahoma State. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2012.

His departure leaves a big question mark at left tackle. The Seahawks have signed two tackles this week in Bradley Sowell and J'Marcus Webb, but most of the premier free agent tackles have already been snapped up.

If they want an upgrade at a position, they'll likely have to seek a trade or spend a high draft pick next month.
