VANCOUVER, Wash. (KPTV) — A woman died in an officer involved shooting in Vancouver Sunday afternoon, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded at 4:20 p.m. to a single vehicle crash off the roadway at Five Corners 76th Street and 94th Avenue.
Witnesses reported the crashed car, driven by a female adult, had been driving erratically prior to the crash.
According to witnesses, the driver walked away from the crash scene while yelling.
At 4:42 p.m., a neighbor a few blocks north of the crash scene called 911 reporting that a woman was attempting to force her way into his home.
The homeowner managed to keep her out, according to deputies.
Two Clark County Deputies confronted the woman in the back yard of the home at the 9500 block of Northeast 81st Street.
The woman was armed with a hammer and knife and attacked the deputies. According to deputies, the woman was shot and died at the scene.
Deputies provided first aid immediately following the shooting.
No deputies were injured in the incident.
The shooting investigation is being conducted by Vancouver Police Major Crimes Unit.
