Semi overturns on Tacoma Narrows Bridge in 50 plus mph wind gusts; crews checking bridge for damage

TACOMA, Wash -- An overturned semi-truck temporarily blocked eastbound traffic on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge Sunday.

Washington State Patrol says winds, which topped 50mph at the time, contributed to the crash.

Fortunately no one was hurt and no other cars were hit.

Washington State Patrol has been on scene since 2:30 p.m. and shortly after 4 p.m. tow trucks arrived to begin removing the truck from the scene.

Shortly before 5 p.m. the semi was uprighted, but crews needed to assess the bridge for damages before lanes could be reopened.
